Sanni Leinonen, Alpine skier

Sanni Leinonen

Our young Alpine princess made her mark on the Finnish Alpine skiing scene when she made it to the Finnish national team as the youngest skier in its history in 2006. At the age of 16, the former track and field athlete won her first World Cup points in Levi in November 2006, showing that there are nerves of steel and unyielding ambition behind her ice-blue eyes.

Born in Siilinjärvi, Leinonen’s best result so far is seventh position in slalom in Maribor achieved in the 2009/2010 season. Because of a knee injury in January 2011, Sanni will be holding knitting needles instead of ski poles over the next few months. Preparing for her 55th World Cup start, we can see an even hungrier Sanni in the next season, ready to challenge the top names!
