12 October 2009 MARTTI UUSITALO, LONG-SERVING ASSISTANT MANAGING DIRECTOR, NAMED AS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR OF HALTI OY, EFFECTIVE 12 OCTOBER 2009 Martti Uusitalo is a shareholder in Halti Oy and has served as the company's Assistant Managing Director since autumn 2002. Uusitalo, aged 38, has played a significant role in building Halti into an increasingly international brand and making the company into a trailblazer in the field of sports outerwear. Before joining Halti, Uusitalo worked for the International Ski Federation (FIS), and for the Finnish Ski Federation (Hiihtoliitto) as their Director of Alpine Skiing. Matti Mustaniemi, who has been at the helm of Halti for just over a year, is stepping aside for health reasons and will continue to support Martti Uusitalo as well as perform various duties as determined by the board until further notice. Under Matti Mustaniemi's leadership, Halti has significantly improved its performance and has achieved above-average profitability for its business area. Martti Uusitalo knows Halti extremely well and has many years of experience in sales and marketing. During Uusitalo's time with the company, Halti has risen to become Finland's leading sports outerwear brand and has built up an ever-increasing international sales network. An increase in Halti's brand recognition has been achieved through focused international effort.
